Malaysian Education

Sometimes i just wondered, "Did we get the best"? Since the elementary level, we're being taught piece by peace and there were only a little chance for us to generate own ideas. This situation continues up to university level which is something not to be proud of. The effect that is worrying is that students even in the higher institution are still very much dependent of their teachers/lecturers. Students also don't really have the confidence of expressing their ideas. They are pretty much listen to what's being told and stick to it. Even if they have something better, most of them just keep quiet or too shy to speak out. If the situation is being ignored, the country would never produce quality citizen that benefits every sector.
Another thought is "Does all of those happen on purpose?" Maybe its was planned to produce the "follow the leader" type of citizen. So that they will not try to oppose the bosses, superiors, or the ruling government. I just thought that this is really connected to politics. Just take the famous names in Malaysian politics, even with powers in hand, they just agreed to what the "Leader" said. Are they afraid of something if they say No?
As a country that aged 50 years old, I don't believe there nobody realize the problems in our education system. But the question is why it is still not improving. Changes have been made in syllabus, courses, and methods of study but the mentality of people just remains the same. Comparing with developed countries, a lot of programs held just to encourage people, not just students, to generate ideas in developing new designs and products that will help improving country's technology and economy. I dont see those kind of effort here in Malaysia.

Industrial Training

I am currently doing internship training with PETPRO (M) Sdn. Bhd. which is specialized in underground tank and piping for petroleum products. The company supplies underground fuel storage tank (UST) which is fiber reinforced double-walled tank (FRP) and piping system from double-walled flexible pipes, API Grade B standard pipes, G.I. standard pipes, above ground (skid) tanks, etc. I'm very pleased to be there because even though I'm in engineering field but I could learn a lot about business while I'm there. The company supply and install most of the petroleum delivery products but it could also provide petroleum rated lighting for the refueling stations. The company also provide testing for the existing pipeline and tanks which follows the EPA and ULC standards and requirements. Other services includes tank cleaning, oil and grease trap maintenance, equipments supply, and metal ceilings supply and installation.
